The Jade Axis
To me, “Jade” is a sign of time that carve through space and ashes than simply a material. I could still remember the jade bracelet which the elder in my family worn when I was a child. It was ice white color with the reflections under the lights glittering like the slightest pieces of a butterfly wing. I was fascinated by the beauty of the jade and amazed by the miracle that nature could make. That bracelet is a gearwheel of memories and time, which brings out the project of “The Jade Axis”. In “The Jade Axis”, the stylist utilized jade and crystal beaded creating accessories, demonstrates the idea and the feeling of “pure and renew” which are the symbols of jade and crystal in Taiwanese culture.
In the name of “time”, the wounded prides are shaped into the ice-looked jade. By the reflection of every single pieces of snow, the jade tells the story of the memories. When people try to come closer, they see and feel the bitterness that flows in the light of the crystal. Fragmented mirrors floats in the damp swamp, reflected the lost of directions in the loneliness of everyone. The alligator underneath is the incarnation of the fragility of life, chaos and all the different emotions in this journey are scattered all over the lake of time.
Throughout our lives, those harsh events that hurts as images or spellings, are compressed in our memories which time turns it into a jade. Those jade are connected by circled-like feelings that turns into metal and steels. The metals are those sharp and twisted reacts that we defend for ourselves, and more and more jade stones and metals are twined around the body and formed a line of defense and distanced from any possibility that might get harmed. Even the memories are slowly fading into the empty darkness by the torrent of time, they still exists. When the snow falls, every piece of snow is like the process of people's memories of trauma, which flashed in a blink of time but still vivid to feel.
We are an individual from birth to death; we are a speck of dust in this wide universe, fighting alone until the end of this journey of reincarnation. We don’t know what’s under the damp swamp, as well as all the unknowns throughout the world and the future, is the unknown spying and hunting toward us? It’s hard to know if we just see the tail of the alligator. But through the unknown, there are chances and new worlds in the lake of time, you can’t help but take a step forward and touch, even to taste and smell the unknown. We take action and change, those wounded nourish us to grow and make a different. We are still vulnerable but no longer afraid.
