Tekla × Le Corbusier: the limited-edition collection of playful mohair blankets
OCTOBER 25, 2022 → WORDS ADRIÁN GOMIS EXPÓSITO
Offering high-quality home-comforting products, the Copenhagen-established brand Tekla partners up with Les Couleurs Suisse AG, which is granted exclusive rights by the Fondation Le Corbusier in Paris to disseminate the designer’s original palette of architectural colors, to present a limited edition collection of mohair blankets inspired by Le Corbusier’s unorthodox and playful approach to color.
Presented at the Studio-Apartment of Le Corbusier in Paris, with this limited edition collection of four exceptional blankets crafted from soft mohair in brilliant colorways and finished with a natural fringed edge, Tekla explores the colors of Le Corbusier, whose legacy has always been an inspiration for the brand. Drawing inspiration from the architect’s Architectural Polychromy, the blankets comprise a selection of the 63 color shades created across two palettes in 1931 and 1951 which the architect used as accents on building facades and interiors to create dynamic and emotional effects. The colors chosen were the 32024 Outremer Gris, 4320K Bleu Outremer 59, and 4320C Rose Vif for their contemporary feel.
One of Le Corbusier’s quotes said that “colors affect our emotions and have a substantial impact on our mood”. That same principle of color having the ability to change a space’s impression is also at the heart of Tekla. With this collection, they showcase the importance and relevance of color and take it as the natural foundation for this remarkable collection.
The blankets are hand-woven by artisans in Spain before being extra-brushed to achieve their softness and voluminosity, each of them being signed with a unique number as part of a limited edition, and marking at the same time the start of a long-term partnership between Tekla and Les Couleurs Suisse AG. The collection is available to pre-order now at teklafabrics.com and selected retail partners.
