AXEL ARIGATO
JUNE 10, 2021 → WORDS BY JESÚS S FERRERA
Axel Arigato burst into the fashion industry in 2014 following the entrepreneurial spirit of its two co-founders, both from a small town in Sweden, which led them to inevitably meet - that’s what happens when you share similar interests in remote and small places. Their awareness for sustainability and boundless creativity led them to create a sneakers brand that is now connected to costumers from all corners of the world.
The ultimate goal for the Swedish label was to fill “a gap in the market for a footwear brand that merged superior quality with cutting-edge design at an affordable price point.” And goals are made to be achieved.
With sustainability being one of their main pillars of work, their relationship with the Portuguese factories developing the product is close to say the least. Although most of the material is sourced from neighboring suppliers, they also work closely to Italian providers to get the best leather and fabrics. They simply defend their speech with facts: their commitment to sustainability comes, for instance, with the conversion of the 95% of the conventional cotton used to organic cotton.
Instagram was the platform that saw them born, and that let them form a strong bond with their community, establishing an interaction that made them understand and get to know who was behind the screens, and eventually, who were the people wearing Axel Arigato.
The outreach to their community also comes in collaborating with local up-and-coming talents, leading to an authentic cultural conversation. Young creatives are one of their greatest concerns, and they believe the best way to give back to the local community is to take care of this connection.
LE MARAIS, PARIS STORE OPENING ↓
Its first physical store open up in the heart of Soho, London in 2016. After that came Sweden, Copenhagen, Dubai... And even if they are connected to the whole world through their official e-commerce, other marketplaces & their social platforms, they’ve decided to open up their first store in Paris - the world’s fashion capital par excellence. Located in the heart of Le Marais -86 rue Vieille du Temple-, the store is a continuation of the expansion of its physical presence in key locations around the world.
A play of colors and shapes are the protagonists of the physical space that houses the Arigato fantasy, which was inaugurated two days ago, on June 8th. It is essentially a modern interpretation captured by contrasts: blending brutalism with minimalism.
Yes, they’re a digitally native business, but Axel Arigato is continuously testing itself, and their stores disrupt the typical retail model. They want to forge real connections with customers.
Special mention should be made of the big freestanding LED screen, which enhance and create an immersive customer experience through the display of creative content, added to the forever-changing vision of the co-founder -in charge of the creativity- Max Svärdh.
On the occasion of the store's opening, they have launched a capsule collection of simple sweatshirts and headwear with colorful logo-mania as the main attraction.
SPRING SUMMER 2021 SUNGLASSES COLLECTION ↓
Arigato’s first foray into the world of sunglasses took place in 2020. Consistent with its success, they have decided to continue with it on the occasion of the SS21 launches.
A campaign photographed by Ronni Campana with a motley cast sporting the four eyewear models that reaffirms the brand as people-powered, counting with talent that represents both the brand values and inclusive spirit. Thus, Axel Arigato keep on with its immersion in the eyewear world while celebrating diversity through its creativity.
