Jil Sander Fall Winter 2021
MARCH 8, 2021
WORDS JESÚS S FERRERA
Probably more remarkable than the launch of its Fall Winter 2021 collection is the fact that Jil Sander has announced the takeover of the company by Only the Brave, the group owned by Renzo Rossos, which already owns Diesel, Margiela, Marni. However, Lucie and Luke Meier are will still remain as creative directors of the label.
The set that housed the collection was the Hôtel Particulier in Le Marais, currently under construction. And the digital show was presented through a film with a nostalgic aesthetics, all filtered through a grainy look.
The garments presented were clothes for a post-pandemic life, for a society that has evolved - as the designers themselves do every season- and now feels powerful.
Colour has been fundamental, although without leaving simplicity aside, as it is emblematic of the house. Gowns with fringing cascading, lingerie dresses with glamorous lashings of lace and big crystals that provided the longing bling bling. There were also long globes crafted in leather and pastel colours, and vegan leather trousers crinkled on the skin.
This new Jill Sander collection is a reflection of what they have been since the beginning, but it is also a testament to what is happening in society and the changes we are going through. It also attested the changes the company itself is undergoing. These are definitely exciting times for Jil Sander.
