GDF presents BULLSEYE collection
APRIL 11, 2022
Hit the mark with GDF’s BULLSEYE. Refined silhouettes meet mature styling in the new collection with pieces that project confidence and elegance from Milano to the world.
BULLSEYE elaborates on two minimal forms: the svelte diamond, and the rounded silver bullet. These shapes reappear across your fingers, collar, and lobes – mechanic yet elevated, conveying strength and simple luxury. “For this collection, I based my designs on modular entities that could be adapted to different styles” explains GDF’s founder Karl Yazigi. Yet as these two original shapes multiply across the collection, they metamorphosize into a series of technically complex designs that are GDF’s hallmark.
BULLSEYE builds on GDF’s emerging reputation for complex stone casting and experimental forms. Several pieces - TRD73, EVE97 and TRD71 - play with the typical stone-casting mechanism that clasps GDF’s colorful stones. The tri-part silver talons are turned over and multiplied, creating a unique bronze and silver web. In other pieces - BYU34, BYU35 and BYU36 - the bullet shape turns inside-out and elongates into bold ear-cuffs and metallic rings.
BULLSEYE also features a special collaboration with Milano designer Giovanni Pacienza. Two pieces – KYRS089 and MRC079 – pair Pacienza’s Taffeta scarves with GDF’s silver hardware in a result born out of twisted experimentation on BULLSYE’s original diamond. “Giovanni and I shared a design vision to produce sophisticated pieces that are a bit dandy and a bit edgy at the same time”.
With BULLSEYE, GDF targets a more diverse audience than past collections. According to Yazigi, “The necklace EVE97 would fit perfectly whether you’re at a rave or chic family dinner.” Ever inspired by the strong Lebanese women of his childhood, Yazigi approached the collection with both his underground community and his mother and sisters in mind.
