Gab Bois just launched her first ready-to-wear line, Canapés
DECEMBER 7, 2023 → WORDS AMANDA BREEZE
Multidisciplinary artist Gab Bois infuses everyday objects with a subversive twist, crafting unconventional and surreal creations that amassed a devoted following on social media. Drawing inspiration from the world of childhood make-believe, the Montreal-based artist turns imaginary scenarios into tangible experiences. From enchanting peppermint candy chandeliers to meticulously fashioned pencil skirts made from pencils and pens, Gab brings her art to life with a campy ready-to-wear line—and it looks good enough to eat. The debut capsule collection, Canapés, is a tongue-in-cheek reference to her business model: small bites, small quantities, and simple pleasures.
The first drop of the collection is inspired by the overwhelming response to a rhubarb purse Gab created in 2020, which was originally conceived for her online work and not intended for sale. This moment sparked a creative resurgence for Gab, leading to the launch of the rhubarb drop three years later today. The Rhubarb drop features two pieces: a knit blend sweater adorned with a graphic print using DTG technology and a purse constructed from 3D models of real rhubarb leaves. The rhubarb leaf purse is made from 100% PVC OEKO-TEX with UV digital print and European cowhide leather tanned in Italy. Both pieces are available in limited quantities of 100 per item, which echoes Gab’s conscientious ethos and ensures exclusivity to her audience.
The first drop of Canapés is now available here.
The second drop of the capsule collection will feature a new range of accessories inspired by clementines, which is scheduled to launch this spring.
