iRi NYC Unveils Collection 09: Harmony in Motion

New York and Seoul-based independent footwear brand iRi NYC announces Collection 09: Harmony in Motion, a vibrant summer capsule that seamlessly bridges avant-garde artistic legacy with the label’s signature playful wit. The inspiration began with a woman worth knowing: pioneering Korean artist Seund Ja Rhee (이성자), who relocated to Paris in the 1950s to create a singular body of work centered on cosmic balance and the tension between opposites. Founder Janet Yeung translated Rhee’s bold, saturated palettes and structural use of color directly into the line’s custom textiles and distinct visual identity. Centering on iRi’s iconic patented Dancing Heels silhouette across two structural heights, a chic mule and an elevated platform, each of the five styles carries a pseudonym drawn from Rhee’s artwork titles, including ELI, MONA, MUNI, and ELVA. The playful lookbook even features handmade props crafted by the iRi team, mirroring the vivid lemon yellow, sunbeam orange, ocean blue, and black structural mesh pulled straight from Rhee’s canvases.

Beyond its striking aesthetic homage, Harmony in Motion marks a monumental step forward in iRi’s ongoing sustainability journey. Handcrafted in South Korea’s renowned cobbler district, the capsule stands as the brand’s first sandal heel collection built entirely without petroleum-based synthetic leathers. Instead, the dynamic silhouettes are constructed using locally sourced ‘KrPET’, an innovative textile made directly from recycled plastic bottles collected within South Korea. By combining mid-century artistic heritage, traditional craftsmanship, and forward-thinking eco-conscious materials, iRi NYC proves once again that high-concept design and responsible fashion can walk hand in hand.
