Choose your fighter or die in the comfort of the void
- Possibilities and limitations in metaverse
Self-portrayal is an intriguing paradox. On one hand, we wish to be recognised for who we are and what we try to manifest as individuals. Conversely, the anonymity of the digitally working world allows us to reinvent ourselves beyond our gender, origin and all of the dualities our physical body imposes on us. But these possibilities still cannot liberate us from prevailing power structures hiding behind the polished high resolution surfaces we’re trying to find our own reflection in. Our editorial project examines the looks and characteristics of a both deeply inspiring and disturbing meta-reality using the fighter archetype as as visual marker. On the battlefield of endless competition by observation we find ourselves wishing for algorithmic minds and superhuman bodies geared for survival in the apocalypse.
