Adarrak, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Talent’s winner collection by Aitor Goikoetxea
FEBRUARY 27, 2023 → WORDS ADRIÁN GOMIS EXPÓSITO
The 21st edition of the Mercedes-Benz Madrid Fashion Week, the benchmark event for Spanish fashion, in the context of the platform for emerging designers in the country Allianz Ego, saw the presentation of Aitor Goikoetxea’s latest collection titled Adarrak.
IED Barcelona graduate and ITS Responsible Creativity Award winner, Goikoetxea always impregnates his creations with tradition, craftsmanship, and nostalgia.
The 22-year-old collection Adarrak draws inspiration from “vulnerability and tradition”, finding fear as the sourcing of all traditions but glimpsing into their fragility at the same time. Using traditional tailoring, and breathtaking silhouettes and shapes, the collection intends to blur the line between man and beast. Colors, textures, and patterns play a key part in representing the story of the collection, a combination that results in Goikoetxea’s impeccable technique and attention to detail in presenting genderless and sustainable designs.
Accompanying the presentation of Adarrak comes a fashion film directed by Valentino R. Sandoli which dives into the universe of the designer where tradition, rituals, and fear mix together, making the past and present collide at the same time, a film that makes us live and feel the spirit of the collection. The photo campaign was shot by Jorge Fuster.
