Versace Fall Winter 2021
MARCH 5, 2021
WORDS JESÚS S FERRERA
Versace has launched today a new monogram, just in case you didn’t realized. Named la Greca, it means the beginning of a new era for the Italian house, which even if it has several logos, it didn’t yet have a monogram.
The set for the presentation has been a colossal wooden structure forming a once-again monogram labyrinth. The usual runway style has been combined with empowerment choreographies by the cast -featuring today’s most acclaimed supermodels aka the Hadids or Irina, to new a few.
The aesthetics of it all was actually young, festive, night. The monogram -excuse the redundancy-is constructed upon geometric patterns, clean lines and a vibrant colour palette. And this young approach is definitely emphasized by it.
In terms of the garments, all-over jacquard suits, rubber patches on the chest, skimpy hemlines, top-heavy jackets, and fabrics like vinyl and matte wool. The pieces in general have been a preview of the longed-for reality -notably reflected in the evening dresses featuring very bright colours, for instance. They were also easy, smart and real.
At the end, Donatella made her appearance also dressed from head to toe in the new monogram, but above all with power. At the end of the day, that is what she’s always stood for, the strength, individuality and empowering of people. Donatella’s rein starts a new era with this collection. But what she really does is continue to maintain a creative trajectory that never ceases to impress.
